Historic York, set deep in the heart of rugged Yorkshire, is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful cities in Europe.

Transport to the City is excellent. Trains to York are frequent and the city is on the main Edinburgh to London East Coast line. From York to London takes just over two hours—which is why York is such an excellent city to spend a few days in during a whistle-stop tour of the UK. York is also easily accessible by car, bus, or even bicycle.

If you are planning a longer trip to the area, there are even more attractions and amenities in the wider area of Yorkshire, including the North Yorks Moors. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby are only a short distance away. There are many beautiful stately homes, including Castle Howard and Harewood House in the region. And for the kids, there is a large theme park and zoo, Flamingo Land, nearby.

York has so much to offer. It took centuries to become the vibrant and bustling city it is now, so you will definitely need more than a few days to really do it justice!
